Lifespan analysis of motor skill development as a function of chronological age.

Student Learning Outcomes, Goals, Objectives:
Students successfully completing this course will be able to:
- Define and articulate key terms, concepts, and theories pertinent to motor development.
- Comprehend the concept of constraints, encompassing individual, environmental, and task-related factors.
- Analyze and evaluate the various constraints influencing the development of motor skills and discuss their contributions to resultant motor behavior.
- Explain key processes, sequences, factors, and milestones associated with the various stages of motor development across the lifespan.
- Explain the relationship between the emergence and integration of specific reflexes and other preadaptive behaviors with the onset of voluntary movement.
- Understand and apply fundamental biomechanical principles to developmental changes.
- Describe and differentiate the qualitative and quantitative changes in fundamental motor skills such as walking, running, jumping, hopping, throwing, kicking, catching, and striking.
- Identify, evaluate, and discuss appropriate assessments for motor skill behavior, considering developmental perspectives.
- Describe and analyze atypical motor development.
- Examine and explain the effects of aging on motor development.
