Numerical values < 0.5 will round to the next lower whole number while values ≥ 0.5 will round to the next higher whole number. For example, an earned score of 92.49 would round to 92 points, while a score of 92.50 would round to 93 points.

Late assignments will be graded out of 50% of total points possible.

In-class participation: Come to class with an attentive mind and be ready to move your body.

Reflections: There are 10 reflections in Canvas across the semester, in the discussion boards area under weekly modules. Each reflection is worth 1 point and is due no later than 11:59pm on the designated Sunday.

Quizzes: You are responsible for completing the 2 quizzes through Canvas. Each quiz is worth 5 points and will be due on Sundays by 11:59pm. You may not use any materials while taking these quizzes. They are “closed book.”

Group project: In groups of 5 you will create a 20-minute flow comprising at least 7 different poses (to be presented in class) and complete a write-up including the following information: the theme of the sequence, reason for the order of the poses, correct body alignment for each pose, modifications for each pose, and a restorative. This assignment is worth 10 points.

Attendance/Participation:

Physical activity courses require physical participation. Therefore, it is not possible to earn class attendance credit without physically participating during class. If you cannot physically participate, then the instructor will mark you as absent from that day’s instruction.

Neither UNCG nor the Department of Kinesiology carry accident insurance for students enrolled in physical activity courses. Each student is responsible for any medical charges incurred resulting from an injury sustained while participating in class.

You may accrue up to and including but not more than four (4) class absences without incurring any penalty. These absences may be for any reason, and unless you plan to be absent on the day of a graded event you do not have to gain the instructor’s approval or provide documentation. You will be withdrawn from the course if you exceed four absences.

Two (2) late arrivals are equivalent to one class absence. Arriving 10 or more minutes late constitutes a class absence. Early departure from class is equivalent to a class absence.

If you plan to miss class on a day for which a graded event is planned, you must provide the instructor written documentation at least seven (7) calendar days in advance of the absence. For immediate situations, evidence must be provided within 24 hours of the incident.

If you have a medical condition that will impact your long-term attendance or ability to participate in the course, you must present written documentation to the instructor during the first week of class or as soon as the event occurs.

Course Materials Purchased by the Students:

Students are responsible for purchasing the following yoga props to bring to every class: Yoga mat, 2 blocks (4 inch, not 3 inch), one 8 to 10 ft yoga strap, and a yoga blanket.
