Attendance/Participation:
The University policy states that students are expected to attend every class meeting. You may accumulate up to and including but not more than 3 class absences without incurring any penalty. These absences may be for any legitimate reason (e.g., illness of any type, including COVID, injury, family emergency, vehicle breaks down on the way to school, away varsity athletic competition, military duty), and unless you plan to be absent on the day of a graded event (see below) you are not required to gain the instructor’s approval or provide documentation.
Students who add the course during the first week of class will not be counted as absent until their name appears on the Canvas on the course roster. However, absences will count beginning on the first day after a student adds the course, and their name appears on the roster.
Late arrival to class will be monitored. It is possible to incur penalties in this course through habitual late arrival or a combination of absences and late arrivals.
Arriving 10 or more minutes late constitutes a class of absence.
Early departure from class is also not allowed and is defined as departing class before the instructor officially adjourns the class at the end of the scheduled period. An early departure is equivalent to a class of absence, regardless of the time of departure.
Physical activity courses require physical participation. Therefore, it is not possible to earn class attendance credit without physically participating during class. Alternative assignments may be given in for credit in the event of acute injury.
