Course Description

This course presents the ideas, advantages, and challenges of information organization and creating and ensuring access to information in the 21st century. Prerequisite: LIS 199 OR LIS 200; Information Science Majors.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the standards, methods, and concepts related to information organization.
  • Explain retrieval tools and other organizational entities.
  • Articulate the importance of information organization.
  • Create well-organized information organization and retrieval tools.
  • Collaborate with others to analyze and develop information organization and retrieval tools.
  • Analyze accessibility in information repositories, organizational systems, and retrieval tools.
