Attendance/Participation:

This is an online asynchronous course, and all material will be made available on Canvas. You are expected to access, read/watch, and understand all course-related material. You are also responsible for accessing all information, e-mails, and announcements related to the course. If you have any problems understanding the course material, please bring them to my attention.

You are expected to attend all scheduled team meetings. If you miss two more more team meetings without informing the team members, prior to absences, your name may be removed from the team submission for that period, and you will not receive any grade for that submission.

It is important for you to realize that there are components of this course that are less structured than what you are normally accustomed to. This means that you are expected to take more initiative and responsibility in this course.

This course involves a significant team project. Your active participation in team activities is critical to your and your team’s success. If you have any problems related to the project, you need to bring them to my attention asap.

If you are facing any team-related issue, it is your responsibility to bring it to my attention in the beginning of the semester. Such complaints may not be entertained after the peer evaluation grade is finalized.

One problem that occasionally plagues teams is free-riders, i.e., team members who exploit the work of others while contributing little themselves. To discourage this behavior, peer evaluations will be conducted and may heavily influence your final team deliverable grade. It is important for you to understand that your team deliverable grade will be based solely on YOUR contribution to the team. As a result, your overall team deliverable grade may differ significantly from that of your team members. In other words, members of the same team might end up earning different team deliverable grade.

It is assumed that students know how to access and use Canvas and UNCG e-mail. Students are expected to check their UNCG e-mail and Canvas course website regularly. Requirements for assignments and various soft-copy documents will be distributed electronically via Canvas. Email is also the best way to communicate with me. In your email, always state your name, course number, and section number. You may not receive a response if this information is missing.

Due dates for assignments are final, unless specified otherwise by the professor. Work turned in late will be assessed a severe penalty. Work not received by the due-date will be given a grade of 0.

As a rule, make-up assignments/activities/quizzes/exams will not be allowed. Missing course deliverables due to illness, summons to jury/military duty, or any other compelling reason should be backed by the appropriate documents (e.g., doctors’ note, etc.) in order to qualify for an accommodation. Students should communicate to the professor before missing the course deliverables to discuss the circumstances.

Course Materials Purchased by the Students:

Use Lucidchart or a similar diagraming software (such as draw.io) to create various diagrams. Lucidchart basic version (free) is available at (www.lucidchart.com). Claude may be used per assignment instructions.
