Course Description

HUM 304L serves as the first of the two-semester sequence (HUM 304L & HUM 305L). As the humanities-based lab for HUM 304,HUM 304L has two functions: to enable a full-program gathering and to give students course credit for the 5 hours of learning represented by time spent “in the field.” Prerequisite: Written permission of instructor; Corequisite: HUM 304.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Practice intentional strategies for responding to various professional opportunities and challenges (e.g., reflection, collaboration, networking, time management, conflict resolution, mentorship, appreciative inquiry, etc.)
  • Collaborate with diverse, multidisciplinary academic and community constituents in contextually appropriate ways (e.g., exhibiting cultural competency)

Regular class participation is important interactions with your cohort and material presented by the instructors and guest speakers are all vital for the H@W experience.

Participation is not a separate grade for the HUM 304L, but is still critical to success in the course.
