Attendance/Participation:
Regular class attendance is important because HUM 304 is community-based. Class discussions, interactions with your cohort, and material presented by guest speakers are all vital for the H@W experience.
Students have 3 personal days (absences) to use at their discretion. These personal days should be reserved for sickness, family emergencies, appointments, etc. I do not delineate between excused and unexcused.
Before or at midterm, if a student has 3 absences in HUM 304, the student must meet with the instructor.
Before or at midterm, a student with 5 or more absences may be withdrawn from the course.
Consistent tardiness or leaving early is grounds for 1 absence.
Overall, the accumulated number of absences may not negatively affect your final course grade. However, many assignments in the course do require your attendance, and attendance is built into the assignment’s total grade. Missing class on days when required by the assignments will negatively affect your grade.
Course Materials Purchased by the Students:
Students are not required to purchase textbooks or other electronic or hardcopy materials for this course.
