A survey of modern Europe with emphasis on the two world wars, political ideologies and cultural developments, and the postwar movement to European integration.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

Analyze historical duration, succession, and change in terms of human agency and larger systems or structures. (Historical Comprehension)
Use historical thinking to contextualize and analyze primary and secondary sources representing different points of view. (Historical Analysis)
For this specific course, students will be able to:
Explain major developments (political, economic, social, etc.) in the history of Europe since 1914.
Analyze primary and secondary sources to gain deeper understanding of how and why those developments occurred.
