History of North Carolina from its colonial origins to the twentieth century, including the evolution of its political system, economy, social structure, and culture.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:
- Demonstrate a general knowledge and understanding of the social structures, economic forces, political ideologies, and belief systems present in the development of the state of North Carolina
- Use a historical approach to analyze and contextualize primary and secondary sources to interpret and write about the North Carolina past coherently
