Course Description
Examination of witchcraft beliefs and persecution as a way of studying the social history of Europe before industrialization. Emphasizes the "Witch Craze" of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.

Learn to approach primary sources critically and effectively, scrutinizing the document’s historical context, intended audience, and purpose
Learn how to identify and critique arguments in secondary sources
Articulate plausible arguments of your own, based on evidence from various sources (primary, secondary, artwork, etc.)
Develop critical thinking and communication skills through reading, writing, and discussion assignments
