Quantitative Research Methods II: Application and Analysis

Course Description

Covers the application of quantitative methods and analytical approaches for students specializing in quantitative research. Students master how to code data, write syntax, analyze data, use software, interpret results, and apply the commonly used inferential statistics and multivariate techniques in social, behavioral, health, and human sciences. Prerequisite: Admission to a graduate program in the School of Health and Human Sciences; HHS 626.

Syllabus

Student Learning Outcomes, Goals, Objectives:

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Apply statistical techniques including conducting and interpreting ANOVA, multiple linear and logistic regression, mediation and moderation.
  • Explore the link between common research designs in the health and human sciences and the application of appropriate statistical approaches.
  • Critique the application of quantitative methods to understand and address questions within the behavioral, health and human sciences.
  • Apply best practices to data cleaning, preparation, entry, and manipulation within quantitative data analysis.
  • Align research design to statistical analysis and interpretation; understand and apply statistical assumption checks.
  • Use specialized software for complex statistical analyses.
