Design your Life III: Enhancing Personal and Academic Success

Course Description

Develop essential knowledge and skills to enhance personal and academic success, with emphasis on campus resources and services as explored through self-awareness, self-management, interdependence, and self-responsibility. Prerequisite: Must have fewer than 60 credits to enroll or can enroll by Written Permission.

Policy on a Grade of Incomplete: The grade of I is assigned at the discretion of the instructor when a student who is otherwise passing has not, due to circumstances beyond his/her control, completed all of the work in the course. The missing work must be completed by the deadline specified by the instructor. If the incomplete grade (I) is not removed during the specified time, a grade of F is automatically assigned.

Attendance/Participation:

This course may be taught in person, hybrid, virtual synchronously, or asynchronously. Regardless of the format, the course is highly interactive in nature. Consistent attendance for in-person and hybrid sections and active digital engagement for all modes of course delivery is vital for the most meaningful and productive learning.

For in-person, hybrid, and synchronous sections, class session engagement is vital; for all course formats, thoughtful contributions to weekly discussion boards greatly impact the success of the course community. Attendance, participation, and timely contributions to weekly discussion boards are weighted significantly in the final course grade.

Attendance is required for in-person, hybrid, and synchronous sections. At the 6th absence, students will have missed 20% of the course meetings and may not earn higher than a B-; at the 12th absence, students will have missed 40% of the course meetings and may not earn a passing grade (D- or above). If you need to be absent, arrive late, or leave early, please alert the instructor prior to the missed class session. It is your responsibility to be aware of the class schedule as posted in Canvas.

Active participation is required. Students are expected to actively and frequently contribute ideas and perspectives via class dialogue, presentations, and online discussion boards. It is important for each student to fully participate in the class to be successful and engaging.

Students are expected to submit timely assignments and discussion board responses and constructively participate in in-person and online dialogue. Active and constructive participation includes contributing to your ideas and thoughts as well as being an active observer and participant during presentations and discussions.
