Introduction to healthcare careers, ethical and legal issues and professional standards. Includes introduction to common medical terminology and interprofessional collaboration.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:
- Describe the educational requirements, roles, and responsibilities of specific health care professionals.
- Identify personal strengths and values pertaining to a range of allied health professions.
- Describe legal and ethical issues impacting the practice of health care professionals.
- Define professionalism expectations for health care professionals.
- Explain the importance of clear communication (written and spoken) for health care professionals.

Attendance/Participation:
Attendance and punctuality are professional behaviors that students are expected to consistently demonstrate as future healthcare professionals. Therefore, attendance in this class is evaluated on a Pass/Fail basis rather than through partial credit. The attendance grade reflects whether the minimum attendance standard established for the course has been met, not how close a student comes to meeting that standard. Students who meet the attendance expectations outlined in the Attendance Policy will receive full attendance credit. Students who do not meet these expectations will not earn attendance credit.
