Course Description

Overview of higher education as a field of study. Participants develop research interests, practice critical reading and writing strategies, and produce an in-depth literature review. Prerequisite: HED 601, HED 606, and HED 661.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Acquire and apply essential skills necessary for doctoral student success
  • Develop the ability to synthesize research literature and demonstrate proficiency in constructing well-organized ideas
  • Describe foundational research approaches to the study of higher education
  • Recognize how to consume and critique scholarly articles

Group meeting and product submission 20 points (-5 pts per missed meeting)
Individual responses 9 points (-3 pts per missing submission)
