Course Description
This course considers the population health implications of income and social status as structural determinants of health. Policy and program interventions will be explored as practical solutions.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:
- Identify the origins of commonly used measures of social status.
- Explain the influence of income, wealth, and social status on health outcomes.
- Analyze the historical, cultural, and political context of poverty in the U.S. and its effects on health.
- Analyze intervention and policy approaches to public health problems relevant to marginalized groups in US communities.
