Course Description

Study of mental health issues and emotional well-being emphasizing mental disorders, stigma, and disparities in intervention approaches. Also covers social, emotional, and spiritual health and wellness.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Analyze mental and emotional health promotion by race/ethnicity, class/SES, and gender.
  • Grow in your understanding and analysis of how the brain, mind, body, and environment intertwine to shape mental health and well-being.
  • Understand how trauma occurs.
  • Identify strategies for community mental health promotion and resilience
  • Identify strategies for your mental health promotion.
