Course Description

Advanced study of designated contemporary topics in Human Development and Family Studies. Prerequisite: Doctoral standing or permission of instructor; Notes: May be repeated for credit.

Student Learning Outcomes, Goals, Objectives:

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Understand basic psychometrics related to the measurement of latent variables.
  • Understand the necessity of establishing reliability and validity with respect to behavioral constructs.
  • Conduct advanced measurement using sophisticated software.
  • Understand the importance of measurement invariance testing for cross-group and longitudinal research.
  • Proceed from the stages of measurement development through validation.

Final project 25 points
Final presentation 10 points
Two measures assignments 20 points (10 each)
Eight weekly assignments 5 points each
Brief presentations on weekly readings in pairs 5 points

Attendance/Participation:

Students are expected to attend all class meetings, complete readings prior to class, and participate in discussions.
