Attendance/Participation:

Class participation is expected in the synchronous classes and will be factored into the course grade. Participation requires you to complete the readings and activities noted in the weekly modules and actively participate in class activities and discussions.

Students who must be absent from synchronous class sessions should notify the instructor ahead of time. Absence from class will be taken into consideration when assigning a final grade for the course.

Unless a student receives prior permission in writing (via email from the instructor)- 2 points will be deducted for an absence; 1 point will be deducted if you are late (over 5 minutes late) or leave early (more than 5 minutes early). If a student misses 2 classes without permission, the final letter grade will be reduced (e.g., an earned A will be deducted to a B). If a student misses 3 classes, the student will receive a failing grade.

Failure to abide by the attendance and participation policy may result in being dropped from the course at the instructor’s discretion . Students who stop participating and do not contact the instructor to withdraw may fail the course.
