The midterm grade period occurs each semester between the fifth and sixth week of classes. During this time, a midterm grade will be assigned based on assignments completed to date. Students with a D or F at midterm should discuss strategies and options with instructors. Midterm grades can be accessed in UNCGenie. Students are encouraged to contact instructors or academic advisors if considering withdrawal.
Arrangements for accepting late assignments or exams will only be made in unusual circumstances and only if the student contacts the instructors prior to the due date for the assignment to explain the situation.
Attendance/Participation:
Class participation is expected in both asynchronous and synchronous classes and will be factored into the course grade. Participation requires completion of readings and activities noted in weekly modules.
Synchronous Participation: Students must attend and actively participate in synchronous classes, including discussions and group activities. Absences without prior written permission result in point deductions: 2 points per absence, 1 point for late arrival or early departure. Missing 2 classes without permission reduces the final letter grade by one level; missing 3 classes results in a failing grade.
Asynchronous Participation: Students must complete weekly participation activities as outlined in Canvas modules.
Failure to abide by attendance and participation policies may result in being dropped from the course at instructors’ discretion. Students who stop participating without contacting instructors may fail the course. Respectful and professional behavior is expected in all interactions. Disruptive behavior may result in withdrawal from the course.
