Course Description

Selections from the works of Greek orators; emphasis on Antiphon, Lysias, Isocrates, and Demosthenes. Prerequisite: GRK 204 or permission of instructor

Student Learning Outcomes, Goals, Objectives:

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • read, understand, and translate both prepared and sight passages from Greek prose with appropriate aid
  • analyze the syntax and structure of the Greek text
  • describe from memory the morphology of ancient Greek verbal and nominal forms
  • analyze and present on secondary scholarship concerning prose texts
  • develop arguments about prose texts using philological tools
