Course Description
Supervised fieldwork experiences in genetic counseling including but not limited to: case preparation, risk assessment and intervention, psychosocial assessment and support, identification of testing and support resources for patients, skill development and application across subspecialties. Prerequisite: Matriculation to second year of M.S. in Genetic Counseling program; Notes: Grading method is Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory (S/U).

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:
Recall and demonstrate mastery of relevant background knowledge related to rotation specialty/ies;
Synthesize and apply background knowledge to cases and clinical scenarios appropriately;
Demonstrate analytical skills including critical thinking, data and information analysis, risk assessment, problem solving and communication;
Function as part of a healthcare delivery team;
Demonstrate satisfactory performance of skills in each domain of the Accreditation Council of Genetic Counseling (ACGC) Practice Based Competencies (PBCs).
