Course Description
This course focuses on financial analysis, financial forecasting, financing, capital costs, and working capital management of start-up businesses and existing businesses in the early stages of development. Prerequisite: FIN 315; Note: Students who have prior credit for ENT 335 may not take FIN 335 for credit.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:
- Describe the basics of starting a business from a financial perspective.
- Describe the basics of growing an existing business in the early stages of development from a financial perspective.
- Analyze the financial statements of a start-up firm.
- Calculate the profitability of a firm and conduct a simple valuation.
- Evaluate working capital position of a start-up firm.
- Effectively use Microsoft Excel to analyze finance related problems.
- Recognize and discuss ethical issues

Attendance/Participation:
In Person Class: Regular attendance and active participation are strongly encouraged and are important for success in this course. Attendance is not graded separately; however, class lectures, discussions, guest speakers, case discussions, and instructor examples supplement the assigned readings. Examinations will include material presented in class in addition to the required readings. Students are responsible for all material covered in class, announcements, and assignments regardless of attendance.
Online Class: Students are expected to engage regularly with course materials, complete all assignments and assessments by the published deadlines, and check Canvas and their UNCG email regularly for course announcements. Attendance is not graded separately; however, consistent participation and timely completion of coursework are essential for success in the course.
