Course Description
Techniques and uses of research in education. Designed to provide the student with the ability to read, understand, and critically evaluate published empirical research. Notes: Students who took this course as EAR 593 are not eligible to take ERM 704 and receive credit.

Student Learning Outcomes, Goals, Objectives:
Students successfully completing this course will be able to:
- Identify and apply fundamental research terminology to interpret published educational research and recognize research problems and research questions.
- Discuss and compare quantitative, qualitative, mixed methods, and other research approaches, including the relationships between research questions, data collection, and data analysis.
- Locate and critically discuss published research relevant to a professional area of interest.

Attendance/Participation:
Course participants are expected to contribute actively to the course through discussion, comments, and reports. Assignments should be submitted, and exams should be taken when scheduled. Arrangements to turn in late work or schedule an alternative exam date must be made prior to the due date.
