Culturally Responsive Approaches to Research and Evaluation

Course Description

This course provides a comprehensive overview of culturally responsive approaches to evaluation and research in educational settings and includes both theoretical and practical applications. Prerequisite: ERM 604.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Evaluate and reflect upon your cultural location, personal and conceptual presuppositions and assumptions in evaluation and research.
  • Identify key principles of culturally responsive evaluation and research.
  • Investigate theoretical possibilities and various ways of applying culturally responsive strategies in different research and evaluation contexts.
  • Critically analyze an evaluation context using specific guiding questions.
  • Reflect on and identify key challenges and issues encountered in the field.
