Course Description

As stewards of data and information you are responsible for the origination, storage, description, classification, and retrieval of data. Because of this, there may be times when you must work with programmers and analysts. This course provides the background to do this. Prerequisite: ERM 410.

Student Learning Outcomes, Goals, Objectives:

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Import, manipulate, and manage data.
  • Distinguish between data types and appropriate analyses.
  • Understand and be able to summarize data with descriptive statistics.
  • Summarize data using basic visualizations.
  • Write basic loops and functions
  • Perform basic analyses and understand introductory inferential statistics.
  • Interpret the results of statistical analyses and effectively communicate about the data.

Attendance/Participation:

You are expected and required to be attend in-person each scheduled class meeting, to be on time and to be prepared. You will be evaluated on your attendance, tardiness, and individual participation in class discussions discussion boards.
