Overview of family business, including what is required for family harmony and business continuity. Notes: Students who have prior credit for BUS 337 may not take ENT 337 for credit.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Identify the social and economic impact of a family business.

  • Explain family business dynamics in terms of three elements: the individual, the family, and the business.

  • Apply the specific practices and skills of effective family businesses.

  • Integrate entrepreneurial and professional management concepts for strengthening family business organizational performance.

Attendance/Participation:

This course is delivered fully online in an asynchronous format. There are no required class meeting times and no attendance grade. Students are expected to engage with the course each week by reviewing assigned course materials and participating in the required graded discussion activities that correspond to the weekly course chapters. All discussions and assignments must be completed by the posted deadlines. Because weekly discussions are a graded component of the course, failure to participate or submit discussions by the deadline will negatively affect your final course grade.
