Performance of steelpan music. Notes: May be repeated for credit. New material/repertoire will be assigned each semester.

  • Rehearsal and performance of steelpan repertoire
  • Identification of techniques and aesthetics unique to the steelpan tradition

Attendance/Participation:

You will assess your own attendance and participation before midterm grades are due and again at the end of the semester.

Participation includes attending classes, being prepared for rehearsals, paying attention, asking questions, remaining focused during rehearsals, avoiding text messages/ emails/ social media during class, raising comments about the assigned article, teaching others/ sharing what you know, trying your best to learn the repertoire and play from memory.

Being prepared for rehearsals includes listening to the songs and rehearsal recordings before coming to rehearsals.
