Course Description
Group study and performance of selected chamber music literature/jazz combo literature (non-conducted) with emphasis on development of independent chamber music performance skills. Personnel and repertoire assigned by performance faculty. Prerequisite: Permission of Instructor; Notes: May be repeated for credit when repertoire varies.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:
Demonstrate the art of Collaboration
Demonstrate the strengthening of new and existing musicianship skills, including sight reading.
Demonstrate the arrangement and re-imagining of preexisting musical repertoire
Demonstrate active listening and responsiveness in a musical setting.
Demonstrate jazz vocabulary, including improvisation, swing, and intentional musical phrasing.
Demonstrate efficient and eloquent musical performance techniques including but not limited to audience interaction, stage presence, microphone technique and honest, connected storytelling.

Attendance/Participation:
Attendance for this course is required. Absences resulting from UNCG-sanctioned events will be excused, provided the course instructor receives appropriate documentation before the absence.
Students have 24 hours after an absence to contact the instructor in person or via email regarding the nature of an absence.
Excessive absences for regular class periods will negatively impact your final grade by at least a letter grade.
Missing a performance without a medical or emergency excuse will drop your grade by at least two letter grades.
