Course Description
Performance of literature encompassing all of the jazz idioms with emphasis on contemporary composition. Prerequisite: Membership by audition; Notes: May be repeated for credit.

Student Learning Outcomes, Goals, Objectives:
Students successfully completing this course will be able to:
- Rehearsal and performance of classic and current literature for large jazz ensemble.
- Learn to be on time and be prepared
- Improve instrumental blend with a section or full ensemble through correct use of dynamics, articulations, rhythm and intonation
- Learning sections of music by ear
- Though it is not mandatory, students will be strongly encouraged to improvise during the course of the semester.
