Course Description
Provides advanced performers with the opportunity of performing contemporary repertoire as well as music of visiting composers and members of the UNCG community. The instrumentation of the ensemble varies from 4 to 18 performers. Prerequisite: Permission of instructor; Notes: May be repeated for credit; Grade: Pass/Not Pass (P/NP).

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:
Demonstrate skills intrinsic to performing contemporary music with and without a conductor in a small group setting, including balance, tone, intonation, reading and interpreting rhythms accurately, and understanding and adapting to varying styles;
Employ learned performance techniques in rehearsals, coachings, and performances to the best of their abilities;
Incorporate contemporary repertoire into their knowledge base of literature over the semesters; and,
Function independently as well as within a team, practice discipline, and enhance skills in acting responsibly and dependably, and;
Evaluate progress, diagnose, and develop strategies for improvement for independent chamber music performance.

Course Materials Purchased by the Students:
