Syllabus

Student Learning Outcomes, Goals, Objectives:

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Students will acquire an advanced understanding of the basic forms of fiction/poetry as well as the various technical elements that make up fictional/poetic form to inform technical and thematic proficiency in their own work.
  • Students will demonstrate professional expertise through a polished collection of fiction or poetry that combines originality with a demonstrated understanding of style and structure.
  • Students will learn technical strategies specific to the writing of fiction or poetry.
  • Students will recognize and summarize the multiple genres and forms of fiction or poetry.

Attendance/Participation:

Student must attend the seven required conferences, show up on time, and submit work in a timely fashion.

If the student fails to submit on schedule or misses a scheduled meeting, their final grade will drop by 1/3 of letter for each incident.
