Attendance/Participation:

Students are expected to carefully engage the readings before each class so that they can participate in small and large group discussions. Active presence in class is required. If for some reason students are unable to be in class, they must make up any work they miss. Excessive absences (i.e., more than one, since the class only meets 8 times) may affect students' grade negatively, though there is no set amount of points lost for absences.
