Course Description

Critical consideration of the purpose and philosophy of undergraduate social foundations courses, perspectives and approaches to teaching, and reflection on issues and problematics of critical pedagogy. Notes: Can be taken up to 2 times for credit.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Develop understandings of multiple, critical perspectives and approaches to teaching of social foundations.

  • Clarify one’s own pedagogical groundings and theoretical frameworks for teaching undergraduate social foundations courses in a university context.

  • Engage in pedagogical/scholarly praxis through inquiry, reflexivity, peer support, course planning, resource sharing, and co-construction of new knowledge in the teaching of social foundations.
