Course Description
A supervised research seminar in which students complete an extensive review of the literature in their chosen area of research specialization. Prerequisite: Permission of Graduate Program Director; Notes: May be repeated for credit.

Student Learning Outcomes, Goals, Objectives:
Students successfully completing this course will be able to:
define a proposed topic for their dissertation;
demonstrate understanding of how to integrate economic theory and econometric methods in the critical analysis of their dissertation topic;
identify common themes in the literature associated with their dissertation topic;
identify gaps in the literature associated with their dissertation topic that can be filled by future research;
discuss and provide constructive feedback to other scholars’ work.
Course Grading Information:
The student’s progress will be assessed during regular meetings with the instructor. To earn a grade of S, the student must attend regular meetings with the instructor, present a draft dissertation proposal, attend and discuss presentations given by other graduate students and faculty.

The student must attend regular meetings with the instructor.
