Movement for Dance

Course Description

Opportunities for dancers to practice their craft, developing working knowledge of different styles of African Dance, Contemporary Dance, Ballet, Jazz Dance, and other movement practices. Style and emphasis may vary each semester. Prerequisite: Graduate standing in Dance; Notes: May be repeated for a maximum of ten credits. Grading method is Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory (S/U).

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Demonstrate technical and artistic proficiency in a selected movement practice.
  • Apply concepts and skills associated with the movement style studied.
  • Analyze movement practices and their applications to dance training and performance.
  • Demonstrate growth in movement awareness, artistry, and professional engagement.

Attendance/Participation:

Students are expected to attend all classes and actively participate in course activities. The School of Dance requires an 80% participation rate to receive credit for the course.
