Course Description
Introduction to scholarship and research methodologies in dance studies. Students will be introduced to key theories and methodologies that have shaped the interdisciplinary field of dance research. Prerequisite: DCE 605 and admission to graduate degree program in dance.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:
- Promptly learn and execute class exercises, movement phrases, and dance combinations.
- Demonstrate integrated foot patterns, torso and upper-body sequences, and the nuances of the dances studied.
- Demonstrate the relationship between musical accompaniment and movement.
- Demonstrate refined initiation, articulation, and coordination of movement.
- Demonstrate a deep exploration of movement qualities, dynamics, and energetic projection.

Attendance/Participation:
Regular attendance and active participation are expected. Attendance and participation together account for 20% of the final grade. Students are expected to engage fully in class activities and movement experiences.
