Course Description
Intermediate level introduction to Laban Bartenieff Movement Analysis through movement integration, observation, critical research, notation, and analysis. Prerequisite: Dance, B.A. Major with Wellness, Somatics, and Movement Analysis concentration, or permission of instructor.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:
Understand and incorporate the principles of Laban Movement Analysis into physical, experiential, written, and creative projects. (DPI Standard 3, Content and Curriculum Expertise)
Create dance movement phrase(s), which have personal significance and critically analyze their expressive content. (DPI Standard 5, Reflection and DPI Standard 3, Content and Curriculum Expertise)
Recognize the structural, functional, and expressive aspects of movement. (DPI Standard 3, Content and Curriculum Expertise)
Demonstrate the ability to observe and identify recurring movement patterns, personal movement preferences, and identify areas and methods for the facilitation of new movement possibilities for development. (DPI Standard 4, Student Learning and DPI Standard 5, Reflection)
Use cooperative learning techniques to promote understanding and integration of the Laban Movement Analysis within a research, teaching, performance, or creative project. (DPI Standard 1, Leadership and DPI Standard 3, Content and Curriculum Expertise)
