Dance Production

Course Description

Theory and practice in technical production areas of dance performance. Topics include lighting, sound, costumes, scenery, video, and production management. Prerequisite: DANC major, minor, or by permission of instructor.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Define the vocabulary of dance production, including lighting, sound, costumes, scenery, video, and production management.
  • Describe and execute common processes and techniques used in dance production.
  • Identify and safely operate equipment and tools used in theatrical production environments.
  • Explain the process of transforming design concepts into realized performance elements on stage.

Attendance/Participation:

Regular attendance and active participation are essential to successful completion of this course. The School of Dance requires an 80% participation rate to receive credit for the course. Students who do not meet participation requirements may be required to repeat the course.
