Exploration and Improvisation in Dance

Course Description

Guided exploration in the elements of dance for the creative development of personal movement repertoire, spontaneous group interaction, and choreographic and movement observation skills. Prerequisite: Dance major or permission of instructor.

  • Create immersive improvisation experiences for themselves and others.

Attendance/Participation:

Students are expected to attend every class session and arrive on time. Students arriving more than 10 minutes late or leaving more than 10 minutes early will be counted as absent. The School of Dance requires an 80% participation rate to receive credit for the course. Sitting and watching class does not count as participation. Participation is assessed through active engagement in class activities, discussions, and improvisational assignments.
