Interventions and Facilitation Techniques in Recreational Therapy

Course Description

This course will prepare students to plan, implement, and evaluate a variety of recreational therapy interventions using various therapeutic facilitation techniques. Relevant efficacy research and theoretical foundations will be included. Prerequisite: Pr. or Coreq.: CTR 439.

Student Learning Outcomes, Goals, Objectives:

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Analyze & apply health care & therapeutic recreation delivery models, theories & concepts

  • Demonstrate an ability to interpret Evidence Based Practice, patient goals, and program goals that will inform activity analyses and interventions.

  • Demonstrate the ability to modify and adapt equipment and interventions for diverse patient populations.

  • Demonstrate the ability to perform proper listening skills and therapeutic techniques in a TR intervention

  • Demonstrate the ability to conduct basic leisure education techniques with clients

  • Develop 5 TR interventions for a variety of patient populations using EBP research
