In general, the following criteria will be used when grading student work:

A – You have submitted an essay that includes everything the assignment requires. The essay is focused and clearly organized, and it shows a personal side to you, the student.

B – Part of the assignment is addressed but not the entire assignment.

C – Problems with the use of language seriously interfere with the reader’s ability to understand what is being communicated.

D – Essay does not fit with the assignment in any way.

F – Essay is written in a way that it is obvious the reading material had not been read or the assignment was not turned in.

Attendance/Participation:

Attendance/participation is not a graded component included in the student's final grade for this course.
