Directing Your Resources

Course Description

Interactive seminar designed to broaden knowledge of philosophy of self-direction and practical strategies for building self-directed supports in the community. Prerequisite: CTP 224; CTP 314; or permission of instructor; Integrative Community Studies student.

Syllabus

Student Learning Outcomes, Goals, Objectives:

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Identify state and local resources available to all NC residents.
  • Differentiate resources and services specific to individuals with disabilities.
  • Compare and contrast disability rights and advocacy organizations.
  • Apply resource information to personal goal planning and practice assertive communication when discussing rights and life planning.
  • Develop and explain a college support plan including personal supports.

Attendance/Participation:

Up to 3 absences permitted. Each additional absence deducts 1 point from your final grade.

Three late arrivals or early departures = one absence.
