Topics in communication sciences and disorders. Prerequisite: Admission to M.A. in Speech-Language Pathology or permission of instructor; Notes: May be repeated for credit when topic varies.

Student Learning Outcomes, Goals, Objectives:

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Describe prevalence, incidence, classification, and risk factors for autism and social communication disorders.

  • Identify, recognize, and explain a variety of tools and measures used to assess the language, cognition, and social communication of individuals.

  • Explain what factors should be considered in providing family centered service delivery for individuals with autism and social communication disorders.

  • Identify and describe evidence-based treatment procedures for targeting language, cognition, and social communication behaviors.
