Topics in communication sciences and disorders. Prerequisite: Admission to M.A. in Speech-Language Pathology or permission of instructor; Notes: May be repeated for credit when topic varies.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:
Describe prevalence, incidence, classification, and risk factors for autism and social communication disorders.
Identify, recognize, and explain a variety of tools and measures used to assess the language, cognition, and social communication of individuals.
Explain what factors should be considered in providing family centered service delivery for individuals with autism and social communication disorders.
Identify and describe evidence-based treatment procedures for targeting language, cognition, and social communication behaviors.
