Student Learning Outcomes, Goals, Objectives:
Course Description: This course entails supervised therapy/instruction provided by a graduate student in the UNC Greensboro Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders under the strict supervision of CSD clinic faculty members who are state-licensed and nationally certified speech-language pathologists (i.e., SLPs). Scheduling for clients enrolled in the course is determined by the supervising SLP.
Learning Outcomes: The learning outcomes are based on each participant’s needs and assessment results. Long-term and short-term goals are mutually determined with each client.
Course Grading Information:
Activity/Performance Measure | Percentage/Points |
|---|---|
Pass/Fail based on active participation, progress on goals, and attendance | Not applicable. |
Evaluation Methods and Assignments: Progress is determined by the participant’s performance on short-term goals, as evidenced by data collection and clinical observations throughout the semester. Progress is documented in a written report at the end of the semester, and a grade of Pass or Fail is assigned. The grade of Pass will be given if the student has actively participated in the instructional process, worked diligently toward meeting the established long- and short-term goals, and adhered to the attendance policy. Homework assignments are individually determined by the graduate clinician and supervisor.
Attendance/Participation:
Students are required to attend all scheduled clinical sessions. Please notify Professor Thomas when absences are required; advanced notification is preferred when possible.
Three or more unexcused absences will result in meeting to discuss course requirements and to review expectations. If continued absences occur after this meeting, the student will receive a failing grade for the course. Decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis, considering individual circumstances.
Regular class attendance is a responsibility and a privilege of university education. It is fundamental to the orderly acquisition of knowledge. Students should recognize the advantages of regular class attendance, accept it as a personal responsibility, and apprise themselves of the consequences of poor attendance.
Course Materials Purchased by the Students:
