Interaction of the consumer with apparel, retail, and associated industries. Overview of industry processes from raw material to consumption for apparel and other consumer products. Career opportunities explored.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Explain the key stages of the fashion product development, from initial concept through distribution.
  • Identify the key legal considerations that affect fashion businesses.
  • Research and analyze fashion trends and forecasts to develop informed product decisions for the fashion market.
  • Outline the process of design conception through manufacturing.
  • Apply retail distribution and marketing strategies to reach target consumers.
  • Identify and explain the proper terminology from the apparel, textile, and related industries.
  • Describe and appreciate career opportunities within the apparel, textile, and related industries.
