Course Description
Fundamental principles of chemistry, including stoichiometry, atomic structure, and states of matter. Prerequisite: One year of high school chemistry or CHE 103; students lacking high school chemistry should take the sequence CHE 103, CHE 111, CHE 114; Prerequisite or Corequisite: CHE 112.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:
- Apply quantitative analysis to understand the natural world.
- Construct and interpret data tables, charts, graphs, or other representations of scientific data.
- Analyze and interpret quantitative data to evaluate and test hypotheses about the natural world.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of scientific inquiry (i.e. the “scientific method”).
- Demonstrate knowledge of basic scientific principles.
- Analyze qualitative and quantitative empirical data.

Attendance/Participation:
Attendance will be recorded during each lecture meeting. Your attendance grade will be calculated as a percentage of the number of lectures attended out of the number of lectures held. Attendance will be recorded using the iclicker. It is the student’s responsibility to record attendance during class. If you forget to record your attendance you will be marked absent.
