Course Description

Examines theory and research on corporate level strategies and corporate governance. Prerequisite: BUS 740 or permission of the instructor.

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Understand the theories of diversification.
  • Analyze the theoretical perspective on mergers and acquisitions.
  • Understand the theorizing around cooperative strategies.
  • Describe the evolution of theories on corporate governance.

Attendance/Participation:

Attendance and participation take place through interactive Teams sessions. The student conducts live journal article presentations and comments on other students’ presentations. If a student is unable to attend a Teams session, the student is required to submit a reflective paper of at least 2,000 words. The reflective paper should have the following components:

Compare and contrasts all required readings covered in the module.

Reflect on what you learned by reading the required readings, how they relate to your work, research, and prior knowledge.

Reflect on novel directions for research, based on your practical experience and current events.

The reflective paper must be emailed to the professor within one week of the Teams session. If a course participant does not attend a Teams session and does not submit a reflective paper within one week of the session, the student’s presentation grade for that session will be zero.

Please inform your presentation group and the professor in advance if you are unable to attend a Teams session. The rest of the group shall present as scheduled and shall present the entire article.
