Global Human Resource Management

Course Description

Focuses on examining the unique challenges and opportunities presented by the increasing internationalization and multiculturalism of the workplace and the development of competences needed to effectively manage human resources in global cross-cultural contexts. Prerequisite: Admitted to the M.S. in International Business, M.B.A., P.B.C. in Global Leadership and Strategy, or permission of the Program Director.

Syllabus

Student Learning Outcomes, Goals, Objectives:

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Evaluate the impact of business internationalization on HRM functions, including planning, recruitment and selection, training and development, compensation management, performance management, safety and health, and employee relations
  • Analyze external and internal issues related to the selection, motivation, and development of talent in a global context
  • Evaluate an effective performance appraisal system and apply it in the workplace to guide managerial thinking and practice.
  • Analyze training and development programs and evaluate the effectiveness of such programs
  • Analyze workplace issues that affect employee development and organizational dynamics.
  • Identify challenges and solutions in managing a culturally diverse workforce, international assignments, and migrant workers
