Global Awareness and Intercultural Competence

Course Description

Interdisciplinary course designed to enhance students' global awareness by introducing them to contemporary global issues while increasing their intercultural competence.

Syllabus

Student Learning Outcomes, Goals, Objectives:

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Examine multiple dimensions of culture and identity from a critical perspective.

  • Describe and analyze significant global issues.

  • Compare and contrast ethical perspectives and the relationship to human rights and justice.

  • Apply key strategies for engaging in intercultural interactions.

  • Construct effective arguments with a thesis statement, supporting evidence, and proper grammar.

  • Write in genres appropriate to the discipline of the primary subject matter of the course.

Course Grading Information:

It is unethical and a violation of the UNCG’s Academic Integrity Policy to request an unjustifiable grade adjustment (“Unauthorized Behaviors”). If a grade input error occurs, you should notify me as soon as possible. I will examine the Canvas grade to determine whether the incorrect grade is present in the gradebook. If an error has occurred, the grade will be adjusted.
