Course Description

Provides foundational information for undergraduate success at UNCG. Concepts for interdisciplinary study and the fundamentals of higher education are included. Fosters development through goal setting and planning exercises. Prerequisite: Must have fewer than 60 credits to enroll or can enroll by Written Permission.

SPARTAN THRIVE

Spartan THRIVE is a campus-wide well-being initiative at UNC Greensboro that promotes student success through health, resilience, and holistic support. It offers resources and programming focused on mental health, physical wellness, stress management, and academic balance to help students thrive both in and out of the classroom.

Many of the assignments for this course are graded on rubrics. A rubric is a tool that articulates the expectations for an assignment by listing criteria, and for each criterion, describing levels of quality (Andrade, 2000; Arter & Chappuis, 2007; Stiggins, 2001). The rubrics for this course display the criteria for each assignment on a 4-point rating scale. The ratings are: Well-Developed, Developing, Emerging, and Unsatisfactory.

Attendance/Participation:

How do you take attendance in an online course? For this class, you will have a video announcement that must be completed each week to get credit for attendance. This is your attendance assignment.

If you are not having success in the course because of lack of attendance or not turning in work, the instructor reserves the right to perform an administrative drop from the course. If this becomes necessary, I will let you know by email before the final drop date of the course, and you can request a virtual consultation with me.

The class attendance form will be used to drop a student from a course for failing to meet the attendance requirements stated on the syllabus.
